Production of 2014 Jeep Cherokee Begins at Toledo Facility

Are you as excited as we are here at Barry Sanders Supercenter to learn that production of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee has commenced? We have just learned that the first models recently rolled off the assembly line of Chrysler's manufacturing plant in Toledo, OH, after a delay of one month. The best news of all is that this means that the highly anticipated model will be soon be making its way to our Stillwater, OK showroom for the driving pleasure of all Jeep brand enthusiasts.

The Chrysler brand invested $500 million into the Toledo plant in preparation for the Cherokee's assembly, which will take the place of the Jeep Liberty and join its sister model, the Wrangler, at the same site. This investment has revamped the 12-year-old facility with new machinery and also includes a new 225,000 square-foot body shop and a 25,000 square-foot quality control center.

Despite the slight initial delay the manager of the Toledo Assembly Complex, Zachary Leroux, states, "The plant is exactly where we anticipated it to be at this point in time." He expresses his impression of the new Cherokee, stating, "I think the vehicle is absolutely gorgeous…it is as fully capable as any Jeep, it has off-road capability and has all of our latest technology. It's just as competitive as any vehicle in the market."1

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee features a brand new design all its own that was exclusively fashioned to increase fuel economy and give the brand a new look. The new vehicle will attain 31 mpg on the highway which is a 45 percent increase over the Wrangler.
