Chrysler Adds Additional $20 Million Investment at Toledo Plant

If you have been following Chrysler news, rumors, and updates, you may have heard about the $374 million they will be investing in production facilities in Kokomo, Ind. This investment will go towards the production of their new nine-speed transmission. Most recently, Chrysler has decided to invest $19.6 million in their Toledo plant. This investment will go primarily towards research and development to create more torque within the nine-speed transmission.

It comes with little surprise that folks in the Perrysburg, Ohio region are excited about these recent investments. General Holiefield, Vice President and Director of the UAW Chrysler Department, goes on to say, "We're very pleased that Chrysler is once again investing in the Toledo Machining Plant and the skilled workforce there. This will help preserve and enhance jobs in the area and give a greater measure of security to our members and their families well into the future."1

Early reports have suggested these torque converters will be paired with the next-gen nine-speed transmissions. We expect this technology to be built into 2014 models, including the Jeep Cherokee, Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. We would not be surprised to see this technology integrated with the entire new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM lineup soon.

If you would like to test drive a new 2014 model featuring this technology, you won't have to wait much longer! The new 2014 Chrysler 200 will be arriving at our Stillwater, OK dealership soon.
